#3 Don’t just throw away: Aerosol Cans
And we don’t mean that the cans can’t be thrown away in the trash. What we mean is that you shouldn’t just throw them away like that because of what is inside the can. You may think that the can doesn’t have any product anymore, but it is still pressurized. It can still have propellants or even chemicals inside of it, and if it gets inside a trash compactor, it can explode.
If you are sure that the can is completely empty, you can take it to a recycling center for cans and aerosols. What you should never do, regardless of the reason, is pierce the container. You never know what can happen, and if it can explode in a trash compactor, it can also explode in your hand.
