#2 Fluorescent light bulbs
They may be better than other types of bulbs, but the truth is that they run on chemicals that can be harmful both to you and the environment. If you have to throw away some fluorescent light bulbs, you should make sure you do so carefully as to not break any of them; otherwise, they will produce a vapor and dust concoction that can even contain mercury. This is why you shouldn’t just put them in the trash can, as if they break on the way to the landfill, things can get complicated.
Check in with your local community for their recycling initiatives or even with the manufacturer of the bulbs you use. They may even offer some mail-back programs so you can send them back to the factory for proper recycling!
