3. Adding the oil at the wrong time
When it comes to regular cookware, the general rule is to warm up the pan before cooking, and then you have to add the oil to it. However, this rule isn’t applicable to nonstick pans because the oil must go into the cold pan before heating. Why? Well, there are two simple reasons why you shouldn’t do this. First of all, some nonstick pans can release potentially harmful vapors when heated without oil, and the second reason is that oil can amplify the nonstick effects of the skillet when it’s added before your food can soak it up.
