7. Rubber-backed rugs and mats
Because of the bathroom’s moisture, the rugs develop some sort of bacteria and mildew that might leave them with a nasty smell. You must wash your bath rugs in hot water at least once a month. However, they should never be put in the tumble dryer on high heat because if they have a rubber back, they can melt or crumble.
Instead, hang them on the clothesline in a spot with plenty of sunlight and good air circulation, preferably on your balcony if you don’t have a backyard.
