10. Sequined and beaded clothes

If you don’t want to mess with your fancy beaded shirt you just bought last month, don’t put it in the tumble dryer. If the decorations (faux gemstones, ribbons, or even metallic embroidery) are adhered using adhesive, the heat may cause the glue to melt and distort them. It is always best to wash them by hand.

Hand washing is always the best choice over machine washing. If the fabric is strong enough, you can wash it in the machine, but only on a gentle cycle at no more than 20 degrees. For better safety regarding all the decorations your shirt might have on, use a laundry bag before putting it in the machine. Always allow the embellished clothing to air dry and avoid humid places as much as possible.
