#4 Batteries
If there is one thing you use extremely often but do not realize you are actually using, it would be batteries. Not only are they used in many of our electronics, but you also end up changing them frequently on things you use more often. Sure, a lot of us get rechargeable batteries now too, but those will also not last you forever. Most people’s instinct is to throw them in the trash can after they are done, but you should definitely not!
Batteries are made with a lot of metals, including lead and cobalt, which are very harmful to the environment if they are not disposed of properly. This is why you generally find recycling bins for batteries either at municipal sites or even at some of your local grocery stores! It may not be as convenient as throwing them in the trash, but it is the better choice!
