2. Marble
NEVER EVER use baking soda to clean marble surfaces! Marble countertops and furniture are very popular these days, and it’s no secret that they are quite expensive, so it’s important to take good care of them and hopefully preserve them for years.
According to cleaning professionals, one of the most common marble maintenance mistakes is using baking soda to clean it (the same thing applies to quartz surfaces). Despite the fact that baking soda has a slightly abrasive effect, repeated applications can eventually remove the marble’s upper protective coating.
They also note that regular cleaning with baking soda can degrade and eventually scratch the stone. So, it’s safer to choose non-abrasive cleaners like dishwashing liquid or special marble cleaning solutions.
