Don’t buy a tree that won’t fit your tree stand

On the same note, don’t make the mistake of buying a Christmas tree that won’t work at all with what you already have at home. Although you might be mesmerized by a big one, is it worth buying a whole new base?

Then again, before you head to the local tree farm, make sure you measure your room’s height and the tree base you already have. Or, as an alternative, you can bring it with you to the tree farm.

It’s not advised to whittle down your tree’s stem to fit the base, either. As The National Christmas Tree Association states, the outer layers of wood are the best in soaking up water.
