While slapping on a couple of coats of paint can revitalize a tired-looking room, what you do with the paint cans afterward can make you less than revitalized. You might choose to store them in your garage or in a cupboard under the sink, but the best place to ‘store’ those cans with a little bit of paint left in them, is the trash!

Why? Well, those cans contain the not terrifying at all sounding volatile organic compounds (VOCs), some of which can not only cause respiratory issues but even cancer. If you are out looking for the right color of paint, do yourself and your lungs a favor and look for low-VOC paints.
