2. Prepare the area

Before you start applying the mixture to the surface, you must clear it. If you have certain objects around, like curtains or stuff that can be easily removed, do it. If it’s not removable, cover it with plastic and secure it with tape.

Don’t forget about the flooring either, because the bleach can mess with its color and damage it forever. Cover it with a plastic bag or use an old towel to protect it from dripping.

If you can, move everything from one room to another because the mold spores can travel in the air. And don’t forget to close the door.

3. First homemade mixture

If you’re dealing with a large surface that needs to be cleaned, then choose a big plastic bucket. Add one part dishwashing liquid, 20 parts water, and 10 parts bleach. Combine everything thoroughly.

If you have a small area of mold, you will need to reduce the quantity of the solution, such as 1/2 half the mixture of chlorine bleach, one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid, and one cup of warm water in a spray bottle. Shake it well before spraying!

The dishwashing liquid helps when dealing with mold spores because it actually kills them and protects the surface from reappearing.
