We took the example of a family of empty nesters in Oklahoma, as an inspiration. They recently decided to make a couple of adjustments, in order to entertain better their large blended family.
Initially, their kitchen had nothing to do with the rest of the house, design-wise. They only had a limited countertop surface, a small island, and a peninsula and wall that cut off the circulation path to surrounding spaces.
In addition, they also had a bunch of black cabinets and black trim, dark granite counters and other heavy elements that made the room feel gloomy. That’s the opposite way you should feel in any kitchen!
