5. The wooden cutting board
If you are using your wooden cutting board to slice raw meat, then it’s time to clean it properly. Why? Because all its grooves can easily become a place where menacing bacteria can hide. And if you are planning to clean the cutting board with the kitchen sponge, you better forget about it! For a genuine cleaning, wash it properly after every use with warm water (avoid using hot, boiling water on your wooden cutting board) and then rub half a lemon on it to get rid of the nasty odors.
6. Pillows
This may come as a surprise, but you definitely should wash your pillow twice a year. Even if you change the linen every week, you most likely overlook the pillow itself. The whole process shouldn’t be a hassle because all you have to do is throw them in your washing machine on a manual cycle with warm water (a maximum temperature of 40 degrees is recommended). This will remove all the sweat and possible stains from the pillows. If you choose to air dry them, it will take a couple of days if the pillows are big, but if you choose the dryer instead in order to accelerate drying and prevent the pillow guts from clumping, add a few clean tennis balls.
