8. Know your temperature zones
The most common mistake people tend to make is that they are storing food in the wrong areas, and that leads to food waste. Simply because the products are not stored in the right places in the refrigerator. The top shelf and the shelves on the door are usually the warmest areas, so keep your longer-lasting foods there (soft drinks, water, condiments, and purchased sodas).
The bottom shelves are actually the cold ones, so the chances that the food is going to waste there are pretty low.
The top shelf is a good place for delicate fruit, usually the berries. And here’s a tip to keep them fresh for a few more days: don’t rinse them until you are ready to eat them.
They’ll stay fresh longer!
