If you have a furry friend, chances are you’re storing their food in your garage. That’s a very common mistake, actually. You shouldn’t store pet food in places like the garage, attic, or basement, even when it’s in an unopened bag.

That’s because mice are always looking forward to accepting the challenge of chewing through the package and feasting on your dog’s or cat’s kibble. Once a rodent has gnawed up the bag, other nasty critters like flies and cockroaches may huddle together to join the feast.

It’s best for you to find another place to store your pet’s food. However, if your garage is the only option, make sure the food is in a metal trash can or plastic container. Ensure these storage containers have secured and sealed lids to keep pests out.
