4. Non-Stick cookware
This is really disappointing because since I discovered non-stick frying pans, I have used them all the time because they are amazing and I can basically cook everything in them. And I bet that I am not alone in this situation since, let’s face it, it’s always nice to clean them compared to others that need to be soaked overnight to get rid of the remaining food on the bottom.
But apparently, “our friend in need” comes with a price, which is our health. When heated to 600 degrees, polytetrafluoroethylene, the coating that makes items “non-stick,” emits gases that have been connected to an increased risk of cancer and other negative health effects in people.
