1. Silverfish
Silverfish are one of the most annoying bugs you could have in your kitchen, and they’re pretty easy to tell apart from other insects since they’re gray or silver in color and have tiny scales that cover their entire elongated bodies.
These insects are about 1/2 to 1 inch long, and they might be in your kitchen because it’s damp, humid, and dark. They also love to have a party in other spaces that have the right humidity levels, such as bathrooms, laundry rooms, attics, and basements.
Since they’re nocturnal bugs, you might not see them for the majority of the day because they like to hide in crevices and cracks. They love to feed on starchy material found in cardboard, paper, books, and fabric.
While these insects aren’t pretty to look at, one of the most effective ways to get rid of them is to control the humidity levels in your home. You can do that by getting a high-quality dehumidifier, such as this one from Amazon, or improving your ventilation system.

2. Fruit flies
Fruit flies are some of the most common insects you could notice in your kitchen! If there’s easy access to food sources in the heart of your home, don’t be surprised when insects start having a blast in your home!
These tiny bugs are about 1/8 inch long; they’re tan to light brown and love to be around veggies, fruit, and other organic matter found in your kitchen.
Whether you have fresh or decaying fruit, they’ll be more than happy to eat them, so if you don’t want to have guests who don’t pay rent, you’d better store those tasty fruits and veggies in the refrigerator or in a cabinet where insects don’t have open access.
Don’t forget to hide soda, juices, and alcoholic beverages too, because sugar flies like drinking. If you forgot to store your produce in closed cabinets and left them on your counter, throw them away if you notice fruit flies flying around them.
