Create a burglar decoy
And by saying that, we’re not talking about a decoy of a burglar, but of a decoy FOR a burglar. There are some burglars that will “smash and grab”, especially if the alarm goes off. You can fill a box with some cash, costume low-priced jewelry, and some papers to shove in your sock drawer.
Answer the door the right way
If you see an unexpected person at your door, don’t let them inside. It might be a thief that tries to simulate an urgent business or issue that isn’t real, just to get into your home. Better to be safe than sorry… and polite!
