9. During winter turn off the outside faucets
It’s important that you do this because if you leave them open during winter there’s a high chance they will freeze. And so, when spring comes and you need to use them they won’t work.
The repair is estimated to be around $100-$200. An additional thing that you can do is to turn off the water. There have been several cases where people would leave for vacation during the holidays, come back home, only to find their houses flooded.
It’s important to do this because the pipes could be damaged, if the temperature drops below zero and the water freezes.
