Will a TV affect your sleep?

It’s well-known that TV has the power to fully disrupt your sleep cycles. The bedroom is supposed to be a cozy and welcoming place for you. You have to organize your sleep environment to keep it cool, quiet, totally clutter-free, and comfortable.

It’s also highly recommended to keep your electronic devices switched off an hour before your bedtime. So if you decide to have a TV in the bedroom, make sure it’s the right thing for you.

If you keep bright screens in that room, it might suppress your sleeping hormone, and melatonin, and derange your body’s circadian rhythm. There’s also something called the knock-on effect, which is when you’re skipping sleep to binge-watch your favorite show.

Should you have a TV in the bedroom?

When it comes to this matter, there are both pros and cons, so the answer might differ for each and one of us. The only thing you need to take into consideration is your lifestyle.

As interior designers Jenna Choate-James and Mariana Ugarte mentioned themselves, “it’s all a matter of personal choice”. If you enjoy the occasional reading in your bed, then you don’t even need a TV in the bedroom.

Even so, it’s still so nice to watch a movie with a cup of hot tea in your hands! For some folks, the evenings might come with a valuable opportunity to relax, meditate, evaluate, and maybe spend some time with your family. A TV is simply not needed in these situations.

Try to hide it properly

If you finally decided to keep a TV in your bedroom as well, you wouldn’t want it to draw too much attention. You might consider hiding it somewhere inside a unit, maybe even one that blends with the entire room.

You might hide it inside a unit with a sliding door, or even built-in storage that will allow you to keep the gadgets out of sight. Jenna and Mariana came to rescue us with this problem, and popped a great idea: why don’t you make your TV seem like art?

Or even better, hide it in a cabinet that you can easily keep open when you want to use it. It will help keep the room maintain a cozy atmosphere.
