6 Home Decor Trends You Shouldn’t Miss This Fall

4. Mixed metals

It’s no secret that mixing and matching different types of metal accents is a trendy and chic trick to step up your home decor game. If you want to give your living space a more interesting and select vibe, mix two tones together and get ready to be impressed.

You can achieve the look that you want by: painting your light fixtures with spray paint that works well on metals; going to a thrift shop and looking for brushed brass picture frames to create a little artsy wall; or giving brushed brass a try and swapping out the hardware on your cabinets for a distinct metal and a whole new look.

5. Vintage accessories

This season’s accessories appear much more used and old, or vintage-inspired, which is one of the best-looking decors, if you ask me. Antique side tables and decor accessories from thrift stores are very fashionable, as are throw cushions made from old Turkish rugs. This trend is great for the environment and our wallets too, because it promotes recycling and thrifting.

If you have a bit of patience, free time, and a desire to make your home more beautiful than it already is, go on a trip to an antique mall or a thrift store, such as Goodwill or Value Village. Garage and yard sales are always great places to find interesting and even exquisite objects, so check those out. If you are more of an online shopper, then Facebook Marketplace is a great option for you.

6. Velvet fabrics

I’ve always liked velvet fabrics for their beautiful, classy, vintage, and sophisticated feel, and believe me when I tell you that I’m all about this fall and winter trend! As beautiful as a velvet sofa is, that thing is pretty pricey, but don’t think that you have to spend every ounce of your wallet money to add a few velvet accents to your home decor.

You can purchase a velvet pillow case from a local thrift shop or from Amazon, or you can even sew a DIY velvet throw pillow and play around with colors and shapes. If you go to a discount store, it might be a good idea to take a look at the clothing and blanket sections for some different pieces you can use as fabric for your DIYs.
