Want to Redecorate? Buying These 6 Items Will Be a Mistake

1. Marble Countertops

It’s not brand new information that marble looks absolutely great when it’s kept in good condition, but the downside is that it’s a lot more porous and softer than the majority of other materials, such as quartz or granite. And given those properties, it’s also more likely to get discolored and damaged over time.

If you enjoy cooking and you don’t want to get all angry when someone has a glass of ice water or red wine without putting a coaster down, it might be better to choose a material that is stronger and more reliable. If you’re crazy about marble, you can still use it, but keep it for the kitchen island or as a backsplash.

2. White Seating

Trust us, we get why a lot of people want to have white upholstery in their living room. It looks absolutely gorgeous, it’s fresh, clean, and polished. But it doesn’t mean that it only has good parts. Even if you make everyone vow that they won’t get any food, drinks, or shoes around your seating, your white sofa and chairs are more likely to get dirty really quickly.

If you still want to purchase white upholstery for your beautiful home, you might consider investing in a slipcover. It will keep your seating clean and put together, while also providing the look that you want.

3. Excentric Wallpaper

A wallpaper looks good and stylish, especially if it has a nice and subtle print. But too much of a wallpaper design might make you feel bored sooner or later. Think of it as the boldest clothing item in your wardrobe. You like it, but would you actually wear it every day?

The same rule applies to your wallpaper. A very bright and bold wallpaper, placed somewhere where you see it all the time, such as a living room, might not be the smartest idea. It’s surely more versatile to have a simple coat of paint since it’s easier to change (it’s actually harder to swap out your wallpaper than it is to change the color of your walls).

However, you can still use the wallpaper that you like, but if you believe that there’s a tiny chance you’ll grow out of it pretty quickly, you might consider using it in smaller places, such as a walk-in closet.
