2. Baking soda
One of the most efficient ways to remove fleas that are stuck in your carpet is to sprinkle some baking soda all over it, give it a scrub, then vacuum it up. Additionally, routinely vacuuming (at least twice a week or more if you have a pet) your carpet will assist in warding off bugs. But remember to keep an eye on the places where your pets sleep as well, which may be on their bed or one of your couches.
Be aware that fleas can transmit a lot of ugly diseases to humans so it’s mandatory to give your entire house a thorough cleaning!
3. Wash all bedding in hot water (over 104° Fahrenheit)
If the infestation is not severe but you have noticed the presence of bugs in your home, one of the best on-hand remedies is to wash all your bed sheets or any other fabrics your pet uses in hot water and dry them at a medium-to-high temperature. Aside from what you use on your clothes, use a stronger detergent that will not only help you kill the fleas but will also destroy their larvae and eggs.
Keep in mind that vacuuming your mattress is very important as well, because it’s one of those items that can’t be washed in your machine. You can do the same for your dog’s bed as well! To kill fleas on items that can’t go in the washer, place them in the dryer for 10 to 20 minutes on high heat. By doing this, you will kill most of the bugs that are trapped in the fabrics.
