Wood
Using bleach on wood only results in stains and deforms the wood. Be sure to use products on your wooden items and surfaces specifically designed for them. Specifically, ones that will protect and nourish your wood.
Bleach is also ineffective at killing mold spores that can discolor wooden surfaces even though it will lighten them, giving you the illusion that you have killed the mold off.
So, you should avoid using bleach on your butcher blocks, work-tops, wooden tables, and cutting boards in the kitchen. Do not use it on paneling, timber, fabric, and other paper products found in and around buildings.
Once applied, the bleach cannot be removed effectively either, so the surface is not safely disinfected. This also applies to any surfaces like wooden floors and dining tables.
What SHOULD You Use? Use a cleaner specifically designed for this job. We recommend Weiman Wood Cleaner and Furniture Polish Spray. If you choose to use dish soap and warm water, you should first test it on a hidden area.
