9 Worst Living Room Decorating Mistakes You Could Make

4. Too many large pieces of furniture

A lot of people tend to overcrowd their living rooms with a lot of stuff that they don’t actually need, especially if the space is too small. And this can make the room look a bit cramped. That’s why choosing the right type of furniture is pretty important, but also where you plan on putting it matters as well.

Have you ever paid a visit to a friend who has a sofa, a coffee table, and some armchairs all together in the same room? This is probably one of the biggest mistakes people tend to make while decorating. Designers say that it’s better to stay away from large pieces of furniture that you don’t use or need.

5. Using the wrong sized rug

Personally, I have never liked rugs. Why? Because I find them hard to clean and, most of the time, they don’t fit in with the overall decoration. Believe it or not, this is another common mistake people tend to make when it comes to choosing the right sized rug. However, it is an important part of the living room design because a rug can change the look of your room in the blink of an eye.

Don’t limit your options by picking only small rugs(you don’t want to cover those beautiful hardwood floors either); otherwise, your room will look a bit disproportional. Decide on large ones that can easily go under the furniture. In this case, the famous saying “the bigger the better” applies perfectly.

…psst! Don’t forget to make it visible and pick it in a vivid light color. I bet it will look awesome in your living room!
