3. Clean the dispenser drawer
All the detachable dispensers on most modern machines should be removed, disassembled, and thoroughly rinsed under hot water. To remove any built-up dirt, use a moderate toothbrush. Reassemble them, dry them off, and put them back into the machine. If they still need to dry completely, wipe them off with a sponge or leave them out in the open.
After running the hot water cycle, the dispenser drawer should be disinfected and clean, but to make sure it is sparkling clean, use the method we suggested.
4. Clean the washing machine filter
Basically, the washing machine filter is a huge and necessary piece of your washing machine. It stops all the icky stuff like hair, fluff, coins, pieces of paper, and other stuff from getting into the pump. It’s usually found below the drum door, and like the dispenser drawer, it’s a place where bacteria and mold can get stuck. And because of that, your washing machine can get a pretty bad smell. Don’t forget that before doing any further actions, check the instructions on how to remove the filter! This is very important because otherwise you can damage the appliance.
If you have a pet, then you know the struggle of having hair all over the house, and little did we know that this could become a messy problem for the washing machine too. Place a towel or a bowl under the filter before starting to clean it to catch any leaks that may appear from the drain. After you wipe it carefully, put back the cover.
Tip: Before laundry day, make sure you get rid of the hair from your clothes as well as possible. You can use a small brush or a hand-held vacuum with a low speed.
