3. Baking Soda
This is a common ingredient that everybody has to have in their kitchen. Plus, it’s a convenient home remedy for bed bugs. This method will not kill them, but it can work as a temporary, budget-friendly solution to scare them off until you get a stronger repellent. All you have to do is sprinkle some baking soda over the infested areas, especially around your bed, because it will dry them out! Since this is a temporary solution, you may need to repeat the process a couple of times a week in order to get rid of them.
4. Borax
This is another natural remedy against bed bugs that actually kills them by suffocation. Sprinkle a considerable amount of borax and a bit of water over your mattress and leave it for at least 24 hours. Even if they don’t eat the substance, they will have a hard time breathing because they will be covered in it. For longer efficiency, you can also add borax to your washing machine on a normal cycle when you wash your clothes. Don’t be afraid because it’s not toxic and it won’t affect the fabric! The main bonus is that borax actively fights against bugs, and the acid and salt in its composition completely dries them out.
