1. Vacuum

Think you may have bed bugs? Besides actually seeing them crawling across your sheets, there are plenty of other signs to look out for: a musty smell in your room, black spots on your bedsheets, and bites on your skin. If you happen to spot any of these, you may have an infestation and you need to take care of it immediately!

The first step before using any other remedy is to vacuum and remove the clutter from your bedroom. Make sure you vacuum everything, starting with mattresses, boxes, shelves, upholstered furniture, and carpets. Because these insects love to hide in dark places, make sure you also use the hose on your vacuum to suck them up in nooks and crannies. If it’s possible, try to replace cardboard boxes with plastic ones and put all your clothes in sealed bags.

Don’t forget to remove the vacuum bag after using it and get rid of it! Bugs that aren’t dead can remain in it and crawl back into their hiding place over and over again.
