7. “Vacuum, then dust.”

This cleaning advice worked in the past when older vacuum models tended to shake up a lot of dust, forcing you to dust off surfaces afterward. However, modern vacuum models don’t have the same effect.

“Dust first, then vacuum”, Forté suggested. The reason is pretty simple. When you dust, some of the particles get trapped in your duster or cloth, but you’ll never get rid of all of them. Instead, many particles end up going into the air and then finding a surface to settle on: the bed, sofa, floor, and so on.

You just need a good vacuum that doesn’t spread the dust back into the room, and you should be fine.
