4. Use a mixture made from baking soda
It might sound a little crazy to use a cake raising agent to get rid of limescale, but cleaning with baking soda is an inexpensive way to get rid of calcium buildup on your shower head. Plus, it is very efficient too! If you don’t want to use vinegar, baking soda is one awesome ingredient that has no particular fragrance and it’s easy to use. To create a mixture from it, you need 1/3 cup of baking soda. 1 cup of white vinegar is optional (you can use boiled water instead), a large plastic bag, a toothbrush and a rubber band.
If the limescale buildup in your shower head is particularly bad, the baking soda and vinegar technique is recommended. Remove your shower head first. Then mix 1/3 cup of baking soda with one cup of white vinegar in the bag. But be careful because this might fizz and it’s better to do the mixture in the bathtub or in your sink. First, make sure the entire shower head is sunk in the liquid, and then secure it with the rubber band. For maximum results, let it soak overnight, then scrub the shower head gently with a toothbrush. Then rinse it in hot water and you’re done!
