6. Purses

Even though some style or fashion bloggers might say that in order to get your bags and purses perfectly clean, you should toss them in the washing machine, we think that you shouldn’t do it!

You should never put a leather or suede handbag in the washing machine if it becomes soiled. The bag will lose its shape and quality of material, and the washer will get the zipper and any other decorations on the outside dirty or broken.

…So if you’ve spent a lot of money on a nice purse, get ready to let it go if you clean it in the washing machine!

7. Ties

Ties are often crafted from delicate materials like silk and wool, so washing them in a machine might cause them to shrink, get damaged, or/ and lose their color.

You should get your ties cleaned professionally at a dry cleaner, along with your embroidered clothing items, where they will receive the care and attention they need. It might cost more, but you’ll enjoy your favorite items for a long time!

8. Anything that has rubber

It’s not a good idea to wash anything that’s even partly made of rubber, as the high temperatures in the washing machine can cause the rubber to either separate from its adhesive or completely melt.

Besides that, you shouldn’t ever put anything with a rubber backing in the dryer, even if the label says it’s safe for delicate items like bath mats and rugs. If you want to get rid of your items, then go ahead and do it, but if you plan on keeping them for a long time, you’d better listen to us!

9. Kind-sized comforter

A standard washing machine doesn’t have enough space to handle a king-sized comforter, and washing one would likely ruin the machine and do little to clean it.

However, most dry cleaners and laundromats have industrial-sized equipment that can handle washing almost anything. You should go to one if you want to keep your washing machine in good shape and clean your comforter at the same time.

10. Lace items

Nothing made of lace should ever be washed in a machine, as is the case with most embellished clothing. That’s because these items are delicate and they can get stuck in something that has a zipper, or they can get ruined due to the cycle.

According to different laundry services, if you want to clean your lace items at home, you should hand wash them in cold water and then lay them flat to dry.
