6. Natural Inspiration
While biophilic design was a major trend in 2022, Joyner predicts that the natural world’s influence will only grow in 2023. “I think natural elements like rattan, wicker, cane, and marble will remain prominent in interior design this year,” she says.
“Along with natural inspiration, earth tones seem to have a strong presence in design. I think we’ll see a lot of water tones like blues and greens.”
7. Painted Ceilings
According to Jessica Mycek, the manager of innovation at paint manufacturer Dunn-Edwards DURA, the painted ceiling will be more widespread in 2023.
“Many people use walls as an extension of their cozy and warm spaceābut it doesn’t have to end there,” she says. “We like to think of the ceiling as the fifth wall; depending on the room and architecture, painting the ceiling can help your living room look more cohesive.”
