5. Hang dried herbs

Did you know that dried herbs can help freshen up your kitchen? My grandmother used to hang dried sage, basil, and bay leaves to give an entirely different smell to her kitchen and also to keep the herbs close at hand whenever you needed them for cooking. How awesome! Just be careful and hang them upside down, because this way you will allow the essential oils to flow down the leaves. Don’t forget that some of the herbs (e.g. mint and basil) need to be dried more quickly, otherwise they develop mold and mildew.
