6. Kitchen countertops
Improper handling, contact with kitchen surfaces and equipment, and uncooked food can all spread salmonella to other surfaces. Salmonella infection causes about 450 deaths and 1.2 million illnesses annually in the United States, according to the CDC, making it likely the most common cause of foodborne illness. Each time you prepare a meal or snack, clean up. You can use an all-purpose cleaner or a soapy cloth. Use a spray or wipe to disinfect at least once a day, and disinfect right away after handling raw meats.
7. Television remotes
As you clean the rest of your home, wipe the television remotes with a damp, soapy cloth. Every day, disinfect with a wipe. Put the remote in a resealable plastic bag if someone in your house is sick, and wipe it down many times during the day using a disinfectant cloth. This procedure can be applied to the game controllers as well.
