1. Inside your toothbrush holder
This is one of the worst things that could host mold. You might think that storing your toothbrush in a ceramic or glass container next to the bathroom sink is a good idea, and I did too, but it is actually wrong.
This is the perfect place for mold to grow because it’s living its best life in the water that drips from your great toothbrush into the holder. You can get rid of this by rinsing and drying the interior of your toothbrush container on a regular basis. If you’ve already started to clean this, make sure you give your soap dish some TLC too!
2. On (or in) toys
If you have small children in your household, pay attention to their toys because they can be dangerous. Little children put everything in their mouths out of curiosity, and their toys can get pretty dirty, especially if there’s no one to clean them after they play.
Believe it or not, even toys that are made from latex can accumulate moisture and bacteria, making them perfect places for mold to grow and thrive. Make sure you always wash children’s toys, because if they put mold into their mouths, things can get complicated really quickly, and you might need to pay your doctor a visit.
3. Under your sink
Most bathroom and kitchen sinks are placed in moist, dark, and warm environments, which are the perfect places for mold. You can prevent this from happening by regularly checking these zones for plumbing leaks or condensation and wiping down the interior of the cabinet under the sink. For best results, you should use a hydrogen peroxide-based cleaning solution or bleach to prevent this fungus from spreading.
