8. Poor lightning
Can you believe that a lot of people tend to forget about proper lighting in their homes? Next time you’re planning to redecorate or simply give a boost to your living room, consider this hack. Because, like perfect furniture, wall color, and even rugs, lightning can change the look in a second. And please don’t add just one big ceiling lamp! If your living room is big enough, play with adding tiny lamps in matching colors on the shelves, floor, and tables.
For lightning that stands out, designers advise us to create “lightning levels.” They are divided into three categories: directional lighting (these are the small reading lamps that can be placed near the couch or behind it on a shelf), ambient lighting that usually fills the room, and accent lighting that can be placed here and there to enhance the space.
However, you may easily add a couple of scones or replace a few lightbulbs to make a room feel brighter if your house feels a tad darker. It need not always involve a whole makeover of the space.
